Perched on a cliff on the central California coast, 50 miles south of San Francisco, is the 115-foot Pigeon Point Lighthouse. This impressive lighthouse, which boasts to be the largest on the Pacific Coast, was a brief stop in our travels up and down the Pacific Coast Highway. It had all the amazing elements for a dramatic painting: turbulent blue green waters, colorful cliffs, and the constant motion of the waves bashing against the rocks just off the coast. For this painting I chose to concentrate on the deep blue green waters mostly because I was admittedly mystified by the constant movement and depth of color.
